Many begonia species have small localised populations and face threats from habitat loss. An example of this is the original locality B. Rajah was discovered has been developed into private housing.

The Asian Begonia Alliance is forming a Species Saver Program where members share plants, seeds and growing advice.

• Each member can select as many or as few species as they can accommodate.
• There is no minimum requirement and no fee no participate (there may costs for posted/couriered plants/seed).
• We only ask members to conserve at least 2 varieties of a species.
• Below is a list of species available for adoption.

If you already have a species in your collection, we would like to offer you further varieties to help in conservation and appeal for cuttings to share amongst Species Saver members.
