Ellastone model
German Spruce top
Highly figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides
1 3/4” Neck
Hiscox hardcase
From legendary Derbyshire luthier Alan Marshall - a custom Ellastone designed as cross between a round shoulder dreadnought and a jumbo. The neck joins the body at the 14th fret and the bridge is located in the middle of the lower bout, the sweet spot. This model was apparently designed as a fingerstyle instrument for John Renbourne.
This is not the typical large bodied instrument- the bridge placement allows for a highly responsive instrument with a tonal complexity mids. The spruce and Brazilian rosewood combine to produce a lyrical and deep treble to bass range.
